You’re the God of this City

I think this song pretty much speaks for it’s self.  However, read all the way to the bottom because you know I can’t NOT say something.  (smile)

Verse 1.
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You Are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like You God

Chorus 1:
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You’re the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all kings
You Are
You’re the strength in our weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadness
You Are

Bridge:

Chorus 2:
For greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
When glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for You and love for You
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

My church (Vineyard in Syracuse NY) is currently doing a Feed My Starving Children event this weekend.  For 3 days in shifts of 2 hours each people come together and package up nutritious dried food that is vacuum sealed and shipped all over the world.  I’m not sure how many meals we were scheduled to pack but I’m sure it will be posted on the Vineyard site I linked to and I will post here also when I find out.

Another thing we are doing is praying for 365 new lives turned over to Christ in our church this year.  This is something they have been doing for 2 years now, upping the number each year.  They meet the goal the last 2 years.  These are not to be people from other churches or who have been a Christian and walked away, but brand new, lost and hurting people who need the love of God in their life.  I’m praying this song.

God wants to reach the people of CNY with His love.  It’s not about how many people sit in church every weekend.  It’s about reaching out and loving those God loves.  And if your reading this wondering who that is, who God loves, it’s EVERY man, woman, and child on this earth.  Not those who do the right thing, or say the right thing, but everyone.

The thing is, you don’t have to change for Him to love you, but once you allow Him to show His love and you start to love Him back, you don’t want to stay the same.
