Backwards Thinkig

There are more verses to this song but this is the one I woke up singing……

Lord, we need Your power, Lord, we need Your power
Your kingdom in this hour, Lord, we need Your power

Send Your power to build Your kingdom
Send Your power to free the captives
For Your power it is the answer
To the hunger in our hearts, oh Lord

We need Your touch, oh Lord
We need You, send Your power

(Casey Corum)

I’ve been under the mistaken impression that I was to work to build His kingdom.  I was to convince the world they need Jesus and to turn from their sin. But that’s not Biblical.  I’m called to love them.

Christ gave us 2 commands.

1)Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength, and soul.

2)Love your neighbor as yourself.

All else hangs on these two.  Yet, many times we get the “all else” before these two and wonder why our lives seem off kilter.

Preaching at a lost and hungry world isn’t going to save them.

Repeatedly telling them they are going to hell isn’t going to get them to listen to what else we have to say.

If we don’t show them the LOVE of Christ, they will never accept the cleansing power of His blood.

On second thought, the first two verses are very relevant today.

Lord, we need Your touch, Lord, we need Your touch
You’re reaching out to us, Lord, we need Your touch

Your touch brings freedom
Your touch brings healing
Your touch is the answer
To the hunger in our hearts, oh Lord

Lord, we need Your grace, Lord, we need Your grace
Your merciful embrace, We need Your grace

Your grace brings forgiveness
Your grace brings acceptance
Your grace, it is the answer
To the hunger in our hearts, oh Lord

What are you doing today to usher in God’s touch, God’s grace, and then God’s power.

I plan on just showing God’s love to anyone I come in contact with and let Him worry about how to use His power.

Forgive and Forget?

A friend of mine posted this quote on Facebook today…

“Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.”
~ Lewis B. Smedes

I don’t know who Smedes is but I like the quote.  I’ve been working on forgiving God.  I think I’ve been having trouble because we alway here it said “Forgive and forget”.

I don’t want to forget, I want to hold on to the memory of that little heartbeat, that little nutt, that first gift of life.

“A healed memory is not a deleted memory”  That’s the part I needed to hear.  I can have a healed memory, a forgiving memory, a memory.  I don’t have to forget, but I can still choose to forgive.

Grateful Seems to be the Theme This Week

Love You So Much

Darlene Zschech

hear this praises from a grateful heart
each time I think of You the praises start
love You so much Jesus love You so much

Lord I love You my soul sings
in Your presence carried on your wings
love You so much Jesus love You so much

how my soul longs for You
longs to worship You for ever
in Your Power and Majesty
lift my hands lift my heart
lift my voice towards the heavens
for You are my sun and shield

Two mornings in a row I have woken with a grateful song.  My spirit man is trying to tell me something I suppose.

I am grateful for all that He has done, yet the anger is still there.  I’m trying to let it go.  I just don’t know how.

For now all I know to do is listen to the songs in my heart and pray that God brings my emotions in line with my decision to let it go.

Bless His Name

I woke up singing this in my head several times in the night.  We sang this in church Saturday night.  That may be why it’s floating around in my head.

Bless His Name

Tony Sanchez

Come let us sing for joy
Let us shout aloud
To our King
Come let us worship God
Lifting holy hands
Bless His Name

Lord we come
To meet with you again
To worship with one voice
In adoration
You deserve our every praise
That echoes in this place
You’re the worthy one

Come let us sing for joy
Let us shout aloud
To our King
Come let us worship God
Lifting holy hands
Bless His Name

Lord we come with gratitude that flows
From deep within our souls, we rejoice in You
We will glory in Your name with a shout our lips proclaim
The praises stirring in our hearts

Come let us sing for joy
Let us shout aloud
To our King
Come let us worship God
Lifting holy hands
Bless His Name

Let every creature in heaven and earth below
Bless His name, bless His name

It’s rather odd to have this conflict going in my soul.  I firmly believe and want to sing these songs to God, yet I’m still angry with him over the miscarriage.  I am grateful for all that He has done, yet still angry for the one thing He didn’t do that I thought He should.

That’s why posts have been rather sporadic as of late, I’m struggling for words right now.

I am spending time in His Word, trying to read through the old Testament right now.  I’m in 1 Kings.  Samuel was interesting. Saul struck me as not too bright.  I lost count of how many times David had a chance to kill him, yet each time all he did was something that would cause no harm but prove that he had not taken a chance he had.  Each time Saul would bless David and leave for a season then get it in his head that David was out to take the kingdom by force and Saul would go hunt him down again.

I mean, seriously, how many times did David need to spare Saul’s life before he “got it”?

One other thing that stood out was how Saul referred to God.  When he would confer with Samuel, Saul always said, “your God”.  I don’t remember him calling God his God.  That may be the biggest difference between the first 2 kings of Israel.  To Saul, God was but wasn’t his. To David, God was his God, his Help, his Salvation.

God was personal to David.

God is personal to me, which I suppose is how I can love him completely and still be angry.

Is He personal to you?
